You may have heard of the “policy” known as the Chase 5/24 rule. We put policy in quotations because it is not a published policy by Chase. But, it is one that they have used to restrict applicants from approvals on certain cards. This “rule” states that anyone that has opened 5 or more credit cards across ANY bank within the past 24 months will be denied from new Chase cards. This policy hasn’t been published by Chase directly. So, there are some exceptions.

It is important to note that each bank and credit card issuer has different rules around how long you need to wait between applications. Learn more about our application strategy here.
